A first for all of us!

I feel a whole lot older tonight. I now add chauffeur for a "date" to my long job description. tonight, Derek went to his first dance at the middle school. He took a sweet little girl from the neighborhood. He looked so grown up going up to her door, giving her a cute little wrist corsage, and opening all the doors for her. They attended the school Christmas dance, and then I picked them up and took them to a hamburger place across town to "hang out" some more with a bunch of friends. He seemed to enjoy his evening. He reminded me tonight that he will have his driver's permit in a year and a half. Oy!

You have to love creativity!

Ava is by far the creative one of the bunch of us. She put this whole ensemble together! She drew the stuff, had me help cut it out, pulled out her Spark's vest (because it is red), asked for the Santa hat, etc. She was so excited to dress up as Santa for us. She is really understanding the fun in this season this year. She is trying desperately to learn the words to Christmas songs, enjoying Christmas shows on tv, and just enjoying the whole Christmas spirit. Up until now, I think it has been a bit overwhelming to her. I am excited for her to take interest in it, as I hope it brings her closer to understanding the TRUE meaning of Christmas and all it entails. One baby step at a time!

Happy Belated Thanksgiving!!!!!

Just because I did not blog earlier about Thanksgiving, doesn't mean it was any less important in our lives than the next holiday. We enjoyed a great time with our family here in Texas. Way too much food! I didn't take pictures at our gathering, but I thought you would enjoy Aslynn's school feast pictures. The kids looked so cute in their outfits. They enjoyed a good time! We have so much to be thankful for. I keep reminding myself of this when I get stressed out in this holiday rush!!!!!!!!!
