How I learned about the Iditarod!

I am probably embarrassing myself by acknowledging that I knew nothing about the Iditarod. As our kids go to an elementary that's mascot is the Husky, their school decided to celebrate the Iditarod by making these weeks the "Iditaread." While incorporating reading, the kids learned all kinds of facts about Alaska, the Iditarod, the Mushers, the dogs themselves, and much more. We attended a family night on Monday where we got to visit umpteen stations about the Iditarod. Stations were things like: an obstacle course running the "medicine" to save the children in time, sled racing, panning for Rubies, making snow, finding out what a blubber mitt is good for, etc. Here are a few pics of the kids in the sled races. Daniel did a great job in his race. Derek didn't watch out for his passengers too well. They ended up scattered across the gym floor. Paul helped them finish out their race. Aslynn had ENOUGH!!! :)

How many birthdays can we pack in one month?

The girls celebrated their 5th and 6th birthdays within a week of each other (Aslynn - Feb. 26, Ava - March 5). What a blast we had! The girls love opening presents. The big deal this year was a playhouse for outside. The hours of fun they will have with that! We had a great time partying with Uncle Phil, Ryan, and Brittany. Thanks for sharing this special event with us, guys!
