Ava's class has their own fair!

Ava's preschool class decided to get their minds ready for the big fair in Texas by having their own fair in their classroom. Ava got to enjoy face painting, the duck game, pin the state on Big Tex, beanbag tossing, picture on a horse, and (her most favorite) eating popcorn and mini corn dogs. Mommy had fun watching her interact and enjoy her time.

Aslynn's "Children Around the World Day!"

Aslynn's preschool had a children's cultural day last month. Each child was to dress in another country's clothing and bring a food from the country they chose to sample. China was an obvious choice for us! Aslynn's favorite Chinese food is Egg Drop Soup, so that is what she brought. I had another parent ask me the other day what it was Aslynn brought that day to eat, because her child loved it! I guess kids go for the simple things in life! Isn't she a cutie?????? She enjoys life so much!

This post is probably more for the grandparents! :)

The hallways in elementary schools have come a long way since we were in school. How beautiful is that?

Celia Hays Elementary had its dedication ceremony last Sunday afternoon. Derek is in the 6th grade Honor Choir for school. They had the 5th and 6th grade choirs sing a song for the program. Derek is in the front row in a light blue oxford and tie with khakis. He loves to sing!

They take their State Fair seriously in Texas!

Each county in Texas is assigned a day off of school so that everyone has a chance to go to the fair. They rotate days throughout the few weeks to spread out the people a little. The kids each got a free ticket at school for it. We had a great time, although it was quite warm, so a few hours there did us just fine. We got to experience riding the second tallest ferris wheel in the world (according to them) called the Texas Star. We rode the sky lift to see all the fair happenings. We, of course, got to meet Big Tex, the 52 foot talking cowboy. Some of us braved the "famous" corn dogs. It was a fun time to spend together as a family!
