Amahl and the Night Visitors

Derek had the privilege and the great experience in December to star in the High School Choir's Musical, "Amahl and the Night Visitors." They needed a boy a little younger looking and one who could handle the high notes from the music to play the lead role of Amahl. He put in many hours of memorizing, practicing, etc. for this. He did a great job. When and if I ever figure out how to put just a small video clip from the production on here, I will try. This musical was very popular many years ago, but it seems to be making a comeback. It is centered around the nativity. It is a "mini-operetta" which is telling a story through music. There are about 16 songs, and Derek had to sing by himself through most of them. He did great, and the other leads were great, as well. The girl who played his mother has a spectacular voice. He enjoyed the experience, and he loves spending time and getting attention from the older kids. We were very proud of him! He is excited to get a little extra free time back though! :)
