Mother's Day Tea, Poetry Readings, and More!

Just thought I would add a few tidbits from last week. I was invited to 2 Mother's Day Teas at preschool on Thursday. Aslynn's class had a breakfast in her classroom. Her class performed some lovely renditions of Mother's Day songs. Aslynn proved that she loves to be a ham and needs to learn how to sit in a dress, especially when in the front row! :) Ava's class and all the Pre-K classes had a dessert for the mother's after lunch. Ava is displaying one of the tasty chocolate fountains they had going for this event. Every kid's DREAM to dip food in a chocolate fountain......and there were 3! Don't let me fool you.......I am one of several mom's who could have just tilted my head a little and let the chocolate just drain right into my mouth!!!!! :)
Daniel's class had a Poetry Cafe' on Friday. Each child wrote a book of poetry, following different poetry patterns. Each child picked a couple poems to read aloud to the parents. Daniel has such a stage presence. He speaks so that EVERYONE can hear him and understand him. He loves to shine! Afterwards, he served mom and his sisters cookies and punch.
On Mother's Day, the kids brought me "breakfast" in bed! They were thrilled to give me some perfume that they went shopping for with their dad. They were pleased that it was "THE MOST POPULAR fragrance out there right now, and VERY expensive!" :) Guess it better last me a LONG time! After church, we spent some time at the neighborhood pool. Actually, we spent 3 days at the pool this weekend. We are starting to feel the extreme Texas heat, and this is nothing yet! The pool and splash park is part of our neighborhood development, so it is very convenient!
I am thankful that God has given me these 4 children to mother. Even when I fail, these children continue to love me. We watched each child's first moment coming into our lives on video last night. Between the girls' "Gotcha Moments" and the boys' hospital videos, we realized how lucky we have been to be given each of these precious gifts. I know I want to strive to be the best mom I can be for my children. I have quite a ways to go, but each day God gives me the strength I need to do the job.

Hi Jackie,

Your mom gave me your blog address and I've been checking in with you all every now and then. Bethany misses seeing the girls in her class and even Marissa has mentioned missing Derek in class. Your kids are beautiful.

God is so faithful and patient with us and you are so right about Him using us despite our failures. All glory to HIM!

Enjoy your weekend and tell your family that our family says "Hello".
